Local church hosts annual Mediterranean celebration

St. Elias Mediterranean Festival offered dancing, music, food

A local festival celebrating Mediterranean culture has returned to La Crosse this year.

The 35th annual Saint Elias Mediterranean Festival had dancing, music, and many ethnic food specialties for fest goers on Sunday.

Members of Saint Elias say the festival is a great way to show off the church and the community surrounding it.

“Right now we have a very large Russian population of young families, and they brought all of their young children along with them, so, I have to say, Saint Elias has just grown by leaps and bounds,” said St. Elias member Julee Casper-Sagar.

More than 400 meals were made for the festival.
