Local business holds ‘Spread the Word to End the Word’ event
Students from 5 schools toured VARC in Viroqua
VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) — The “Spread the Word to End the Word” campaign was the focus of a local business Tuesday.
The campaign aims to show that all people deserve respect.
Five local schools headed to VARC in Viroqua to tour the building and learn what the organization does for people of varying abilities. VARC is an organization that provides job opportunities to people with disabilities.
“We wanted to spread the message of respect for everyone no matter their level of ability and we wanted them to be able to learn from that and take that back into their own schools and model that type of respect for their own students,” said VARC’s Dir. of Rehabilitation Liz Filter.
One student said she plans on raising awareness about respecting each other.
VARC is hoping interest in the campaign grows. They plan on hosting another tour next year.
