Local bridal shop giving thanks to active Air Force medic
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Air Force member Brittany Reynolds’ passion for serving America is something she can’t back away from.
“I do it for everybody else,” Reynolds said. “I’ve put myself out there, so others don’t have to.”
Even if it means not being home for long periods of time.
“It’s a great feeling after you get over the fact of how long you have to be away sometimes, and the training and everything else. But it’s worth it.”
Reynolds has been an Air Force medic for four years.
“It takes its toll after a while,” Reynolds said.
But loves everything about it.
“You know you helped,” Reynolds said. “And then seeing them reconnect with their family and that itself, is very rewarding.”
Reynolds met her boyfriend, Andrew, in the military, and they have been dating more than three years.
Last month, she said yes.
“He took me on a trip up to Door County a couple weekends ago, and proposed to me there.,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds says she was originally going to go hunting with her fiance this morning, but her mom told her Charlotte’s bridal was giving away free wedding dresses.
“I’m like ‘okay, maybe we’ll check it out when I come back in,” Reynolds said. “And she’s like ‘no, I don’t think you understand. We’re going there first.”
Charlotte’s bridal has given away more than 150 dresses in the past several years.
“It’s just a way that we kind of thank our active duty service members for their service to our country,” bridal consultant Alicia Vonarx said.
After looking, Reynolds found that perfect dress.
“I FaceTimed my dad from a thousand miles away and I said ‘you wanna know how much it costs?,'” Reynolds said. “He’s like ‘no.’ I said ‘it’s free.’ And his words were ‘shut up.’
Now, she can’t wait to say, ‘I do.”
“I am so ready to have my dream wedding,” Reynolds said. “Have my big day.”
