Local 10 year old receives award for anti-bullying efforts
GALESVILLE, Wis. (WKBT) — A young girl is showing bullies they’re no match for her.
10 year old Brea Lipke was a victim of social media bullying.
Now she’s being recognized for using her experience to empower others.
Lipke was given the Golden Grave Digger Giving Award from former Super Bowl Champion Gilbert Brown.
Brown first met Lipke when she invited him to her school to talk about anti-bullying.
After his visit, she started a Friendship Circle for kids to come and listen to her story and talk about their own.
Lipke says she doesn’t want kids to go through what she’s been through.
“I don’t like kids just giving up, because there are some kids in my class that say ‘I can’t do this or anything’ and I say, ‘don’t say that because you’re a strong girl or something’,” Lipke said.
She also makes efforts to help families in need.
This is the first year the Gilbert Brown Foundation has given out this award.
