Coulee Region housing market continues to struggle

In Wisconsin, the housing market has been in a slump for the last three years.

Home sales in April declined 32% compared to 2021 and the median home price has risen to $283,000.

In the Coulee Region, the housing market continues to face many problems other markets are experiencing.

Low inventory -- or, the number of available houses to sell -- causes prices to skyrocket, resulting in fewer homes selling.

One expert advises buyers to have someone who knows the landscape of the market.

"Number one on the list is to contact a realtor," said President of the La Crosse Realtors Association Damon Olson. "Work with a professional to get the best advice and have someone in your corner working for you."

Olson adds that these challenges could stick around for years to come if inventory fails to increase.
