Lewandowski and Spieker set school records as UW-La Crosse roles over UW-Eau Claire 42-7
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — UW-La Crosse football remains unbeaten at home in 2019 with a dominating 42-7 win over UW-Eau Claire Saturday. That’s the program’s first undefeated season at home since going 4-0 in 2006.
Sophomore quarterback Evan Lewandowski put together another impressive performance with five touchdown passes setting a school record for single-season passing touchdowns at 27.
Lewandowski’s record jumps ahead of the record of 25 held by Craig Kusick set in 1994. Senior wide receiver Cole Spieker broke the single-game school record for receptions with 17 topping the record of 15 held by Joel Oxton (vs. UW-Platteville on Nov. 12, 2016) and Nick Holcomb (vs. UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 21, 2017).
UW-La Crosse improves to 6-3 (4-2 WIAC) on the season and is still a long shot to make the Division III playoffs. The Eagles finish the regular season at UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m next Saturday.
