Letter Carriers Food Drive collects donations in La Crosse
Largest single-day food drive in the nation
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — You may have noticed some little blue plastic bags in your mail recently.
On Saturday those bags were being collected.
The annual Letter Carriers Food Drive left blue bags in La Crosse residents’ mailboxes for those willing to donate non-perishable food items.
This drive is the largest single-day food drive in the country, and it collects food donations for many local organizations.
“The Hunger Task Force is collecting food for 70 plus meal sites and food pantries and youth programs and, you know, this time of year is when it’s needed the most. Kids are going to be out of school pretty soon, parents are going to struggle to find those extra meals and this is going to be so helpful,” said the Hunger Task Force Executive Director Shelly Fortner.
Last year the drive raised more that 72-million pounds of food nationally.
If you would still like to donate, or volunteer, just head to the Hunger Task Force’s website, LaCrosseHTF.org.
