Law Enforcement Memorial recognizes sacrifices
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The community came together today to honor officers lost in the line of duty.
As a part of National Police Week, the La Crosse County Sheriff’s office hosted the 2018 La Crosse County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
While it has been decades since a local officer has died in the line of duty, the death of any law enforcement officer in the state is has an impact.
“We take training very seriously. Try to enhance law enforcement safety in our community through their tactics and enforcement and fortunately and we hope and pray that we do not lose anybody in the future,” said Steve Helgeson, La Crosse County Sheriff.
Two law enforcement officers died in the state of Wisconsin in the past year.
