La Farge Volleyball putting together historic season

Won first conference title in 20 years, is top seed at regionals

La Farge Volleyball isn’t one that normally finishes high on the Ridge and Valley standings. Just last year they were 5-11.

But this season the team has changed the narrative.

The Wildcats went undefeated in conference to win their first conference title in 20 years, and they’re a top seed in Division 4 playing in a regional final.

For the four seniors who’ve been through ups and downs, success feels pretty special.

“Everybody has always overlooked us as La Farge,” senior Natalie Marron said, “so for once to actually be good and actually do something with our skills is an amazing feeling.

“I’m just glad we could finally show that La Farge can do it, that people shouldn’t just count us out,” Audrey Wirts said.

The players say the community has responded with overwhelming positivity since the team won the Ridge and Valley.

“They are our biggest supporters, our community,” senior Evy Price said. “I know just last weekend after we got the conference title, we did a parade around town, and people drove in their cars and followed us. People would wave out their windows and stuff like that.”

“They did an amazing job making us feel important and that they still are supporting us even though they can’t be here,” senior Hayden Benson said. “I feel all the support in the world that I couldn’t have a better community than I do at La Farge.”

La Farge hosts two-seed Hillsboro in their regional final Saturday at 7 p.m.
