La Crosse’s Veteran’s Memorial Pool project gets a design firm
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse’s memorial pool at UW-La Crosse has sat empty for about 3 years, but the project is taking a big step forward.
The city picked Ayres Associates of Eau Claire to lead the design for the pool’s reconstruction. The design firm has worked with the city in the past, including on the Eagle Viewing Center project.
The Veteran’s Memorial Pool Committee is excited to see some movement on a project that has waited for years.
“Choosing this design firm is a sign that things are happening and the pool is going to be filled soon. So our fundraising efforts can really ramp up, and that’s super important. Getting that pool done can happen with community dollars. We’re in a unique position to do that in this neighborhood,” said Grandview-Emerson Memorial Pool Committee Chair Jacob Sciammas.
The Pool Committee also says Ayres Associates is expected to provide a design to the city in September, with the project scheduled to finish next year.
