La Crosse’s new Fire Chief swears in
Gilliam ready to assist the Fire Department
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — New leadership for one of La Crosse’s emergency services is sworn in Monday afternoon.
Incoming Fire Chief Ken Gilliam stood before members of the La Crosse community and city government, swearing to fulfill his duties. Gilliam comes from a background in fire department training.
Gilliam says he looks forward to his time in La Crosse, hoping to improve on an already capable department.
“Just trying to find out how I can fit in to support where they’re already headed. I think the department’s on a great track. Chief Cleveland’s done a wonderful job with the organization. It’s how do I really come in with my strengths to take us to that next level?” said La Crosse Fire Department Chief Ken Gilliam.
Gilliam began working with Chief Cleveland earlier this month to transition into the position. Gilliam takes over as Fire Chief July 1.
