La Crosse’s Londre chosen as ‘Vanguard’

A La Crosse man is being recognized for his hard work to improve our community.

Andrew Londre will be representing our area at next month’s ‘Next City Vanguard Conference’ in Tennessee.

Londre is one of the leaders of the Powell-Hood-Hamilton Neighborhood Association, and is also a driving force behind the ReNEW project.  It matches  homes in need of minor repairs with volunteers wanting to help with everything from landscaping projects, to fixing broken porch steps, to adding a fresh coat of paint.

Londre was chosen out of hundreds of applicants to be a part of the Vanguard Conference, where he’ll share his neighborhood changing ideas with community leaders from around the nation.

Already leaders in our*area are getting on-board.

“It’s really exciting for me to see our entire community, not just the city of La Crosse, come to realize the importance of improving La Crosse’s neighborhoods,” says Londre.  We have cities like Onalaska and the village of Holmen, they’re starting to realize that what happens in La Crosse’s neighborhoods impacts what happens in their communities as well.”

Londre is also working with others to create the La Crosse Neighborhood Development Corporation.  One of the goals of the corporation is to promote La Crosse’s neighborhoods as a great place to live and invest in.
