La Crosse YMCA launches new esports league

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Children with a passion for video games have the chance to compete in a new esports league. The La Crosse Area Family YMCA started a new esports League with registration opening Monday.

Esports, also known as electronic sports, is organized competitive video gaming and has grown over the years. Esports allows teens to engage in a non-traditional sports program where they learn teamwork and problem-solving skills.

YMCA leaders say this program will promote healthier and safer habits for video game playing and screen use. The league is set to start in April.
