La Crosse working towards a “SolSmart” designation
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse is one of ten Wisconsin communities that could soon benefit from the sun, whenever it decides to come out again.
The Midwest Renewable Energy Association is now helping La Crosse and 9 other cities better use and promote solar energy. It’s all to get a “SolSmart” designation, which shows a community is devoted to making solar faster and easier for people to use.
“I think working with Midwest Renewable Energy is a really great opportunity to help review our processes to make sure that they’re understandable and easy to navigate for our citizens,” said City of La Crosse Environmental Planner Lewis Cuhlman.
MREA is also advising the Cities of Racine, Sheboygan, Stevens Point and Wauwatosa, the Villages of Amherst, Egg Harbor, and Plover, and Portage County as each move towards a SolSmart designation.
