La Crosse woman shot during standoff in Boscobel, suspect arrested

BOSCOBEL, Wis. (WKBT)– A La Crosse woman was shot during a standoff at a home in Boscobel. A male suspect who was allegedly armed with a rifle during the incident was arrested.

According to the Boscobel Police Department, it received a report of a man who barricaded himself inside a residence Friday morning. Law enforcement was notified the suspect was armed and possibly had a woman inside the residence with him.

A perimeter was established around the home at 1306 Elm Street. Neighbors were then notified to evacuate the area.

Authorities made contact via telephone with Bryant Matti, 32, of rural Eastman. Officials tried to get Matti to surrender, but a standoff ensued.

Gunshots were then heard from inside the residence, which prompted law enforcement to enter the home.

Law enforcement found a 20-year-old woman from La Crosse. She had a gunshot wound to her lower right leg.

Matti was located and taken into custody without further incident.

Both Matti and the woman were transported to Gundersen Boscobel Hospital for treatment. The unidentified woman was later transferred to Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse with non-life-threatening injuries.

Marri was booked on suspicion of first-degree reckless injury, injury by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment, criminal trespass to a locked dwelling and two counts of bail jumping.
