La Crosse, Winona and Houston counties report COVID-19 deaths

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse and Houston counties each reported Thursday that a resident died of COVID-19 and Winona County reported two deaths, according to area health officials.

The total number of La Crosse County residents who have died of COVID-19 is 69, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Health.

DHS reported 30 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 122 negative tests Thursday in La Crosse County.

New cases in the county include:

  • Four children under age 9;
  • Three people aged 10-19;
  • Five people in their 20s;
  • Six people in their 30s;
  • Two people in their 40s;
  • Eight people in their 50s;
  • One person in their 60s; and,
  • One person in their 70s.

Statewide, 2,177 Wisconsinites tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 528,101. Forty-five residents died of COVID-19, according to DHS. A total of 5,607 people have succumbed to the virus in Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, a total of 281,789 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 8,283 in La Crosse County, including preliminary numbers from the last three days.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported that two Winona County residents died of COVID-19. An additional 19 people in Winona County tested positive.

In Houston County, one person died and 18 residents tested positive.

Across Minnesota, 1,087 people tested positive and 32 Minnesotans died of the virus.
