La Crosse Tribune to move printing to Madison in August
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Change is coming to newspapers in our area.
The La Crosse Tribune and Winona Daily News will be printed at a plant in Madison starting August 11th.
Management with Lee Enterprises, the company which owns both papers, has not said how many employees may be impacted by the change.
In a statement to News 8, the President of Lee Enterprises says:
“This move is part of an industry trend as newspapers seek to consolidate and improve efficiencies.
This move will allow the papers to focus resources on generating local content, while ensuring long-term viability of the print product.
The press which is located in La Crosse is aging and has become difficult to maintain operations due to the challenges of securing replacement parts.
This move should not impact the quality of any products currently produced in La Crosse.”
