La Crosse trails open after spring closures

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department opened its natural surfaced trail Wednesday after they were closed due to the spring thaw.

Hixon Forest, Upper Hixon Forest, The Gateway, Mathy, Hass and Dobson Tracts were all opened again this week. They were previously closed due to mud to avoid damage to the trails’ surface.

The department reminded people that there is no camping, fires, smoking or littering on the trails. All animals must be on the leash. People are called upon to follow the marked trails and signs, be courteous of other trail users, yield to uphill traffic and travel at a safe speed.
