La Crosse synagogue to host holocaust remembrance event focusing on “rescuers”
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse is joining a national day remembering the Holocaust.
The synagogue “Congregation Sons of Abraham” hosts a Holocaust commemoration each year during the “Days of Remembrance.”
The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum hosts the week at the same time as Israel’s own remembrance of the horrific events. This year’s local event will focus on “rescuers,” those who go out of their way to help others.
“Keep in mind that any kindness that you do for a neighbor, a smile or holding a door, is taking one step further to accepting them and understanding how important you are to them and they are to you,” said Congregation Sons of Abraham Rabbi Saul Prombaum.
The Holocaust Remembrance Service is on May 1. It is free and open to the public.
