LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Associate Concertmaster of the La Crosse Symphony, Michelle Elliott, is offering free violin lessons for Boys and Girls Club (BGC) students.

The classes are an education program of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra (LSO) in partnership with the BGC. Elliot contacted her students and offered free lessons via ZOOM. She had a huge response and has begun the free lessons. One student did not have a violin, so through the Play It Forward Education Program of the LSO, a violin will be given to that student. Elliot is offering the lessons without compensation to ensure the enrichment during this time of crisis.

Eva Marie Restel, Executive Director of the LSO says, “Michelle is offering a gift of growth for these students in a time of uncertainty and isolation. The La Crosse Symphony believes in the importance of their education programs and will continue to grow their outreach. Michelle is another example of teachers and community members helping children during this pandemic as the symphony and the Boys and Girls Club collaborate on the After School String program.”
