La Crosse students take on GROW Cooking Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Students in La Crosse are getting their creative juices flowing during the GROW Cooking Challenge.

Kids and teens are getting bags of ingredients to turn into a healthy recipe using all the items.

This is the largest group of young chefs participating since the challenge began, with 101 teams signed up.

There are two ingredient baskets: one for beginners and one for advanced groups.

“In the advanced basket, we have quinoa, garbanzo beans, dill. In the beginner basket, we have basil, canned garbanzo beans, and we also have some broccoli,” said public health intern Lexie Blaschko.

Kids have the entire weekend to fix up a dish with all those ingredients.

The youngest participant is just 2 years old.
