La Crosse students honored for academic success

More than 500 La Crosse high school students are being honored for their hard work.

The La Crosse School district held its 30th annual Academic Achievement Recognition Ceremony at Viterbo Monday night. The board of education recognized students who last year earned a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher.

Each student will get an academic letter for their accomplishment.

The district’s superintendent says the night is a way to give students the credit they deserve.

“I think it’s really important to hold these students up in our community and our school district as students who are working really hard, but also attaining at very high levels,” said Superintendent Randy Nelson. “It’s so important  to acknowledged that, for us to acknowledge that, and give the student an opportunity to celebrate themselves.”

Students are eligible to receive the award during their freshmen, sophomore, and junior years.
