La Crosse SOUP at the Rotary Lights
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse SOUP made an appearance at the Rotary Lights on Thursday night for some community discussion, fundraising, and – of course – some delicious soup.
For a suggested donation of $5, attendees receive a cup of soup and a vote. Four different groups pitched their idea for four minutes each on how they plan to make our community better. The audience can ask up to four questions of each presenter. Once all ideas are shared, everyone votes for their favorite.
At the end of the night, votes are counted and the winner walks away with all the money raised that evening.
Thursday night’s winner was Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a La Crosse County nonprofit that builds and delivers beds to children who don’t have one.
Other organizations that participated in SOUP at the Rotary Lights were;
RUSH Wisconsin WEST Thunder TOPSoccer , providing athletes ages 3 to 21 with disabilities an opportunity to build connections with people of all ages and abilities through playing soccer.
Enduring Families Project, explores the local history of African-Americans and other non-white settlers.
Zot Artz Universal Art Project, adaptive, universal art tools to become available to area schools and families of all abilities.
