La Crosse Shopko pharmacy tech admits stealing 2,000 pills
Woman arrested on felony theft, possession of controlled substance without prescription
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse police arrested a 23-year-old Shopko pharmacy technician who admitted stealing 2,000 pills over two years.
On Friday afternoon, the pharmacy manager at the Shopko in Bridgeview Plaza on the city’s north side told police Emily Eggum took hydrocodone pills from a bottle in the pharmacy.
According to the police report, Eggum admitted to a police officer she had been stealing pills (hydrocodone, Adderall, zolpidem, and Xanax) since she started working in the Shopko pharmacy in April 2013. The report states Eggum admitted to stealing 2,000 pills over two years.
Police arrested Eggum for felony theft and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. She was released from jail on Sunday morning on a signature bond.
Eggum’s initial appearance in La Crosse County court is scheduled for March 4.
