La Crosse seniors get down on the farm with “backyard barnyard” party

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Llamas, and donkeys, and chicks- oh my!

They all made a guest appearance Wednesday at La Crosses’ Bethany Saint Joseph Care Center. Staff hosted a backyard-barnyard party right outside the B.S.J. front door. Residents and their families had the opportunity to pet the animals and even feed them.

All of the animals are cute, but the fan favorite was a pot belly pig named Pineapple. Mary Saval says pineapple could use some more exercise.

“I guess she’s been eating too much. He was holding her up and he said I gotta put her down because she’s too heavy,” Saval said.

Bethany Saint Joseph has been caring for seniors for more than 40 years. The backyard barnyard is just one of the events staff hold year round to keep residents engaged with the community.
