La Crosse schools, Riteway recommend app as solution for transportation delays

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The School District of La Crosse sent out a notice to families Tuesday warning that Go Riteway — which provides busing services for the district — has a driver shortage causing delays in service and recommending an app to check the status of the bus.

Families using Go Riteway’s services for their children to get to and from school are seeing delays, according to the district. The delays are caused by driver absences due to COVID-19.

“We deeply regret the disruption this has caused our families. Go Riteway’s transportation staff will continue to do their very best to serve all routes in a timely fashion even as they face this challenge,” said the school district in a letter to parents.

It encouraged families to download the Here Comes the Bus app and contact Go Riteway at 608-881-6370 with questions.

“Due to the unpredictable nature of the pandemic and the increased infections caused by the Omicron variant, we do not know how much longer service will be impacted but are hopeful this disruption will be short-lived,” it said.
