La Crosse School District to stay virtual through Oct. 18
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The School District of La Crosse extended virtual learning for all students Wednesday to at least Oct. 18 following the release of the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative metrics.
Superintendent Aaron Engel announced Wednesday that the metrics indicate that while the conditions are improving, they are not yet improved enough to allow for in-person learning.
On Wednesday, the Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative released metrics stating that the new case rate continues to be concerning; however, new hospitalizations and the care capacity of local hospitals is satisfactory.
Secondary metrics, including the number of cases interviewed, contacts traced and positive test ratio, remain in the red, concerning zone.
The school district, which is providing a weekly update, uses a decision matrix based on the Harvard Global Health Institute model to determine the mode of learning.
