La Crosse School District could expand into downtown with purchase of the Brickhouse

The La Crosse School Board met Monday evening to discuss expanding into the downtown area by purchasing the Brick House.

The move is needed because the La Crosse Design Institute and 7 Rivers High School are both looking for a new location to teach. It’s not just about the space either. District leaders say expanding into downtown could grow and improve relationships in the area

“Sky’s the limit in terms of the possibilities we are imagining with how students can begin to recognize their own pathways towards college and careers readiness and life ready,” said School District of La Crosse Director of Secondary Education Stacey Everson.

The Board could approve the purchase of the Brick House as early as next month. Renovations could then begin early enough for the building to be usable by next fall.
