La Crosse Regional Airport receives grant for renovations

Airport gets $2.23 million for terminal improvements

The La Crosse Regional Airport is getting some financial help with its much-needed makeover.

Wisconsin’s Department of Transportation awarded the airport a grant of $2.23 million on Wednesday. The money will be used to upgrade the terminal’s bathrooms, escalators and make other structural improvements.

U.S. Representative Ron Kind said in a statement that the renovations will not only cater to visitors, but also the area economy.

“The La Crosse Regional Airport is an important transportation hub that plays a key role in our regional economy, from tourists to business travelers to our men and women in uniform,” said Rep. Kind. “This investment will make using the airport an even better experience for everyone.”

The announcement comes about a week after the City of La Crosse’s aviation board approved more funding for the renovation.

With the extra grant money, the airport will have a total of about $15 million to spend on the new terminal.
