La Crosse rallies for reproductive rights
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- Community members were rallying today for reproductive rights.
The event at Weigent Park is one of the hundreds of marches and rallies around the country to push back on dangerous laws that seek to ban abortion access.
The national day of action comes just a day after new research was released showing that more than 1,000,000 women of reproductive age in Wisconsin, could lose access to abortion if the Supreme Court overturns Roe-V -Wade.
Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor was at the event to show his support.
“What we see going on across the country is unacceptable what we see happening in Texas could have easily happened in Wisconsin if Governor Evers didn’t have the veto pen. It’s unfortunate when the reproductive health of women is politicized in this sort of way,” said Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor, Mandela Barnes.
Tomorrow we will be covering Life Chain, an event similar to this one, but it is pro-life instead of pro-choice.
