La Crosse Public Library hosts March Book Madness for kids
March Madness style bracket tournament
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Looking for a little March Madness in your life?
Then look no further than the library!
The La Crosse Public Library is hosting a March Book Madness bracket tournament in the children’s room.
This is a national program which has libraries using the familiar March Madness bracket format and having kids vote on their favorite children’s books of all time. It’s a concept borrowed from a competition started by a couple of fifth graders in Ohio.
Organizers say it’s a great way to introduce kids to more books.
“We think this is a really wonderful opportunity, not only to get kids excited about the books they’ve already read, but to get them excited about new books that they maybe haven’t checked out yet,” said La Crosse Public Library Youth Services Librarian Dana Johnson.
The Sweet 16 vote is closed, but the Elite 8 are about to face-off. If your kids would like to vote, just head on down to the main branch of the La Crosse Public Library.
