La Crosse Park Commissioners meeting discusses smoking ban and maintenance plan

The Parks board meeting proposes new plans

The La Crosse Board of Park Commissioners meeting on Thursday, April 18, discussed the new Parks Survey, a smoking ban in parks, and adjustments to a 10 year park plan.

The new proposed maintenance plan enables annual maintenance checks on parks and shelters.

The changes would make sure things are replaced while increasing each park’s lifespan.

A ban on smoking was also proposed as a way to take better care of those parks and the city.

Director of La Crosse Parks and Recreation, Jay Odegaard, says “In some of our more concentrated parks it’s a big issue. So this will really help to curb that and also promote that healthy enviornment… to really a place where a lot of family’s and little kids are going”
