La Crosse out of running for Bucks D-League team
Bucks cite distance from Milwaukee as factor in decision
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse is out of the running for the Milwaukee Bucks’ new D-League team.
The Bucks have been looking for a city in Wisconsin to host their new developmental league team starting in the 2017-2018 season.
The city of La Crosse made a bid to host the team at the La Crosse Center, but officials tell News 8 that the Bucks called today saying they were no longer in the running.
La Crosse Center Director Art Fahey says distance from Milwaukee was cited as a major reason for the decision.
All of the cities still being considered are on the eastern side of the state, closer to Milwaukee. Those include Oshkosh, Sheboygan, Grand Chute and Racine.
La Crosse officials had hoped the $45 million worth of upgrades coming to the La Crosse Center would lure the team to this side of the state.
