La Crosse officials estimate $175,000 will be available for 2023 Block Grants
City will focus on giving more funds to fewer projects
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Block grant applications are now being accepted by the City of La Crosse.
La Crosse officials estimate the city will get roughly $175,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The city wants to focus these funds on expanding child care, preventing homelessness, and decreasing poverty by increasing self-reliance.
There’s a change this year.
Instead of giving smaller grants to dozens of projects, the city wants to focus on just three to five projects, allowing them larger grants.
In order for a project to be eligible, federal law says the project has to be a new service or a significant change to an existing service.
There’s more information on applying for a grant on the City of La Crosse’s website.
