La Crosse officers issue 19 tickets, 26 warnings since Losey speed change
Speed limit changed last Friday
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — With reduced speeds posted less than a week ago, drivers along La Crosse’s Losey Boulevard are already receiving many tickets.
According to the La Crosse Police Department, 19 tickets and 26 warnings have been issued so far since the speed was lowered last Friday. The average speed of drivers ticketed is 42 miles an hour.
While the drive through Losey Boulevard may take longer now, officers want drivers to understand the new posted speed limit is the law.
“We are hopeful that people will voluntarily comply and we don’t have to take the enforcement action, but just so everyone knows, we are out there and we are enforcing the new speed limit,” said La Crosse Police Department Sergeant Tom Walsh.
Losey Boulevard was one of the highest enforced roads in La Crosse before the changed speed limit. Since the change, officers say they have been monitoring the road to ensure drivers travel safely.
