La Crosse neighborhood recognized for development

Powell-Poage-Hamilton project receives state award

Revitalization efforts in one La Crosse neighborhood are being honored this week.

The city received a Community Development Award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Association Wedensday. The award honors the city and their partner’s impact on the Powell Poage Hamilton Revitalization Project.

While the recognition is nice to have, officials say there are many other projects in the works for La Crosse.

“The list goes on. The first PROMISE Home is going to be moving in any day now, so we’ve got more of those projects, we’ve got a potential project that is happening at the pantry that’s in the very, very early stages. So there’s just one thing after another that seems to be popping up for us and we’ll take it,” said Powell-Poage-Hamilton Association CoChair Angela Manke.

The Powell-Poage-Hamilton Neighborhood Revitalization Project was one of three finalists for the Economic Development Initiative award in the state.
