La Crosse Mardi Gras donates $13,000 to Aquinas Catholic Schools
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse Mardi Gras donated $13,000 to Aquinas Catholic Schools on Wednesday.
The festival’s Rex and Queen Greg and Kathy Curti were on hand to deliver the check.
The theme of their reign this year was “Everybody Counts at Aquinas.” The money will be divided and used in a number of different ways in the Aquinas school system.
“The Mardi Gras funds really helps the extras. The scholarships that kids can have access to attend our middle school, our theater renovation, to help assist with that and just offset the cost of the elementary schools. So without those funds it’d be a little more difficult,” said Aquinas High School Principal Ted Knutson.
The donation was made possible by the money generated from the Mardi Gras ball and Fat Tuesday celebrations.
