La Crosse man in jail after threatening to blow up police, building
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A La Crosse man was arrested early this morning after reportedly calling in a bomb threat to La Crosse County Dispatch.
According to a police report, Jared Cooper, 25, called 911 Sunday, November 17 at 8:22 p.m. and told the operator “There is a bomb in your building. Everyone will die. Every single police officer. You’re all dead.”
Police traced the call, then conducted a search warrant early Monday morning, November 18, where they found Cooper and the phone used to make the threat.
Officers searched City Hall, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Police Department and the La Crosse Sheriff’s Department and did not find explosives.
The man initially told police the phone wasn’t his, but later admitted drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before making the threatening call.
