La Crosse man facing drug charges following car chase on southside
TOWN OF CAMPBELL, Wis. (WKBT) – A La Crosse man is facing drug charges following an incident at an area hotel.
On Tuesday, June 9, the Campbell Police Department received a call from staff at the Days Inn Hotel regarding a bag of suspected drugs in a hallway. Police arrived at approximately 9:13 a.m. and recovered 301 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of $8,000-$10,000.
Following a review of the security video, police identified the suspect as Joshua Kletzke, 37 of La Crosse. Campbell Police along with the West Central Metropolitan Drug Unit served a search warrant on the hotel room and found additional drug evidence and other suspects.
Information on the suspect was sent to area law enforcement partners. La Crosse police located the suspect vehicle and Kletzke was taken into custody following a car chase.
Police say it started when an off-duty officer noticed a man with a warrant in the area of the southside Walmart.
On-duty officers were called-in and found the suspect’s car.
Because he has a history of running from police, officers put spike strips under the tires.
The suspect did try to get away and ran over the strips, causing all four tires to go flat.
He then led police on a chase until he stopped in the area of 16th and Farnam Streets.
That’s when police say he locked himself in his car and started acting erratically.
Officers fired a bean-bag round through the back window.
The suspect eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.
During the search of the vehicle, Officers located a loaded .357 revolver next to the driver’s seat, as well as fentanyl and marijuana.
No one was injured.
Kletzke is in the La Crosse County Jail facing the following charges:
- Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine
- Possession of narcotic drugs
- Possession of THC
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Fleeing an Officer
- Possession of a firearm by a Felon
- Probation violation
