La Crosse man dies after being struck by vehicle in Monroe County

LITTLE FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) — A 77-year-old La Crosse man is dead after being struck while walking on State Highway 71 in Monroe County Monday night.

At 7:43 p.m., Vaneng Vang died after being struck by a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 52-year-old Brian Malchaski of Blair, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Responders pronounced Vang dead at the scene.

Malchaski struck Vang near Dakota Avenue on State Highway 71, according to authorities. Sparta Ambulance, Sparta Area Fire District, Cataract First Responders, and Gundersen Air assisted Monroe County.

The incident remains under investigation by Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
