La Crosse Logan students show off completed prosthetic limb
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The handy work of Logan High School students was on display Wednesday in La Crosse.
Logan’s InvenTeam hosted a final review of their completed prosthetic limb Wednesday.
The artificial limb was awarded a grant by the Lemelson-MIT program .
The Lemelson-MIT program helps to inspire new inventors.
The InvenTeam designed and built an improved charging and use management system for lower leg prosthesis.
This type of study is far different from the usual worksheets and tests.
” This allows us to really step outside of our comfort zone and get some real world experience that you normally don’t get until you’re in college or in a job field that allows you to pursue something like this, ” said Paige Treakle , Logan High School senior and InvenTeam member.
Next month, the students will showcase a prototype of their invention at EurekaFest at MIT in Massachusetts.
