La Crosse League of Women Voters to distribute door hangers to urge voting
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The League of Women Voters of the La Crosse Area will begin distributing door hangers to encourage people to vote beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 401 West Ave. S.
While research indicates that personal contact is one of the most effective ways to promote voting, COVID-19 is thwarting that method this election season, according to a League news release says.
“However, one safe and effective means of getting out the vote is door hangers,” the release says.
Distributing the hangers is most efficient when two people team up, so each can take a side of the street, the League says, encouraging participants to enlist a friend.
Volunteers can pick up their hangers and get street assignments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist parking lot.
People who can’t participate can pick up hangers and distribute them at their convenience in the following few days.
Distributors will report back to Peter Nelson at firstname.lastname@example.org when they have completed their assignment.
Anyone with left over hangers can return them to Unitarian Universalist or to the box on the front porch of the house at 111 17th St. S.
Anyone with questions can contact event chair Chris Haskell at email@example.com.
