La Crosse high school students make cards for Wisconsin man with cancer
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT — Gene Weittenhiller’s story continues to touch lives across Wisconsin.
The Prairie du Sauk man has stage four cancer and stopped treatment earlier this year.
After a call for Christmas cards went out from the man’s son, people across the country have been sending messages of love to the 72-year-old grandfather.
Including right here in La Crosse.
Many of the students from Central High School’ made cards Friday to send in an event organized the school’s ‘Interact Club’.
The cards are all about helping someone in need.
“We hope that it just gives him a happy holiday season and just the motivation to know that he has a support system behind him, and we’re cheering him on all the way from La Crosse,” said La Crosse Central senior Emma Peterson-Johnson.
While a lot of cards have already ended up in Weittenhiller’s mail box, plenty more are wanted.
