La Crosse firefighters ‘fill the boot’ for muscular dystrophy
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse firefighters spent Wednesday collecting money for a good cause.
Members of the department could be found across town for their annual Fill the Boot campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
About 30 firefighters from La Crosse took part in the drive, which included three locations at the intersections of La Crosse Street and West Avenue, La Crosse Street and 4th Street, and Losey Boulevard and Mormon Coulee Road.
Firefighter Jim Hillcoat says all of the money raised will stay in the La Crosse area.
“There’s numerous cases of muscular dystrophy in our general area, and the funds from this one, from this collection that we do here in La Crosse, are going strictly to local needs.”
The La Crosse Fire Department hoped to raise about $10,000 with their drive this year.
