La Crosse Fire Department responded to fire at Solberg Heights

Repairs needed for fire station in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The La Crosse Fire Department responded to a fire alarm call Friday, July 31, at 12:53 pm. at Solberg Heights, located at 215 6th Street South in La Crosse.

Tenants reported the smell of smoke on the sixth floor. Fire crews located and quickly extinguished a small fire on a stovetop in one of the apartments. The tenant and tenant’s pet were able to exit the apartment safely.

The apartment sustained minimal smoke damage and there was minimal fire damage to the stove and surrounding area.

The La Crosse Fire Department Fire Investigator determined the cause of the fire to be accidental.
