La Crosse educator releases children’s book

A local educator has released a children’s book about a boy and his favorite lighthouse.

Tracy Helixon, a Communication Skills instructor at Western Technical College, has recently published a book called “Caleb’s Lighthouse” about a boy and his family living in a lighthouse for several years.

New technology forces the lighthouse to close, but that doesn’t dim the love Caleb has for his favorite place.

The story is inspired by a lighthouse in Wisconsin.

Helixon says, “Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Door County is such a special place, so I’m honored to share a story inspired by my visits there. I’ve learned so much through the process of writing this book, and I’m grateful to bring those lessons to the classroom when working with my Western Students.

The children’s book is illustrated by KC Snider.

“Caleb’s Lighthouse” can be found online through Amazon and Barnes & Noble, as well as Guardian Angel Publishing‘s website.

Helixon is hosting a reading of the book on Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Pearl Street Books (323 Pearl St. La Crosse) where the book will also be available to purchase.
