La Crosse County silent sports get a boost to improve tourism

Silent sports in La Crosse, like canoeing, hiking and fishing, are getting a financial boost.

The Wisconsin Department of Tourism is granting $13,322 to Explore La Crosse. That money will fund the second year of the “Driftless Outdoors Show” which shows off La Crosse County’s natural beauty and all the outdoor sports it includes.

“It allows us to grow the event, reach out to more people, get into the Cities and over to Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee. It allows us to just be able to reach that much further to bring more people to the area so they can experience what we have to offer in La Crosse County,” said Explore La Crosse Executive Director A.J. Frels.

The second year of the “Driftless Outdoors Show” is this May at the Onalaska Omni Center. The expo will include vendors, speakers and experts on all kinds of silent sports.
