La Crosse County officials talk about referendum question asking people about legalizing marijuana
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A possible referendum question on the November ballot that would ask La Crosse County voters if they think marijuana should be legalized could soon move on to the County Board.
The county’s Executive Committee discussed the referendum question Thursday evening, but did not go to a vote. The committee plans on having a final vote during its next meeting, on July 11-th.
“It’s just straight up do people feel that it should be legalized for adults over 21 years or not,” said La Crosse County Board of Supervisors Member Tara Johnson.
The specific question states taxes from marijuana would go towards education, healthcare and infrastructure in Wisconsin.
If the Executive Committee votes in favor of adding the advisory referendum question in the fall, the proposal would then move on to the La Crosse County Board for approval.
