Town of Farmington will take over Mindoro Park with the help of a $75,000 La Crosse County donation

TOWN OF FARMINGTON, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse County transferred ownership of Mindoro Park to the Town of Farmington and included a donation to help with that transition.

At a ceremony Friday, La Crosse County Board Chair Monica Kruse presented a check for $75,000 to town chair Mike Hesse. The money is meant to offset expenses for planned improvements including a new trail and a second baseball field. Mindoro Park will also be the site for future cross-country meets held in partnership with the Melrose-Mindoro School District.

Kruse said giving control of the park to the local township made sense.

“We are really looking forward to seeing what you do with the park,” she said at Friday’s ceremony. “This gathering here today is a testament to community and citizen engagement.”

Mindoro Park was developed in the early 1970s through a collaboration between the Mindoro Lions Club, La Crosse County and the Town of Farmington.
