La Crosse council approves extension of firefighting pact with Holmen to Dec. 31
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The La Crosse Common Council agreed to extend its agreement with the Holmen Area Fire Department Board to administer Holmen firefighting until Dec. 31.
The council approved, as part of its consent agenda Thursday, to extend the memorandum of understanding for the shared services from its original termination date of June 30.
The original pact, approved a year ago at a cost of $14,583.33 a month to the Holmen district, was the result of the Holmen Area Fire Association’s struggles to keep up with its fire staff and emergency response times,
Holmen’s fire department serves the Village of Holmen, the Town of Onalaska and the Town of Holland.
